Details
"Drawing upon his experience with an elite commando unit, and extensive research into modern intelligence tradecraft...Combining excellent storytelling ability with a believable plotline, technological realism, and good characters, tied all together into one taut, fast-paced story Moscow Nights...is technologically accurate. Ultimately the greatest single aspect of this novel is its realism. Some books have the ability to make the reader ask "what if...?" or "could this have happened?" Moscow Nights is one of these, taking a realistic, often shocking, approach to spy fiction as it attempts to pierce the darkness surrounding both the life of its heroine as well as that of the modern intelligence community."---Jason Tucker 'The Brunswickan'

Tatya - Moscow Nights takes place in 1992. The USSR no longer exists, but what will take its place? Sergei Yussoupov, a prince of the old regime, wants to bring back the Russian monarchy, but Interpol, the CIA and CSIS fear he is financing his campaign by selling nuclear material. Tatya Romanovsky is sent undercover to discover the truth.

The truth is something that Tatya, and therefore the reader, can never fully discover. Tatya enters a world where the line between good and evil is relentlessly challenged. It is "a line that cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of one's own heart?"

Moscow Night is a traditional spy novel, with a clipped style and heavy doses of sex and intrigue. The author's personal knowledge enables him to provide us with a wealth of historical background, plus excellent physical descriptions of the locations where the action unfolds.

In the end we can only agree with Tatya, that things are never what they seem. Writes the author on his website, "I wanted to join fact and fancy, to appreciate how both are essential to the art form, and to have the reader decide which is the stranger of the two."

Will remind you of that favourite...
